Finally, Sony is releasing a standard PS3 bluetooth headset. It will be available alone for $50 or as part of the SOCOM Confrontation bundle for $60. It has some welcome features like:
After a couple of weeks, I've made my first run through on Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. This is really one of the great games of this generation and easily in my top 2 PS3 games.
I'm the casual gamer so being able to talk about the new and cutting edge stuff in all the latest games on all the current platforms isn't quite my cup of tea. However, I'll stumble across an article that makes me think and or I'll be exposed to some technological event that makes me get all excited or really pissed. I think I've found one of those that does the latter.
I'm not a super user of the Internet by any stretch of the imagination. I play a few XBL games from time to time and download content for those games and will watch YouTube stuff occasionally. In doing this I will have some times of the day when Internet service isn't quite what I think it should be. I guess someone in my neighborhood is downloading all the HD porn he can before the inevitable lock down of the internet by our ISP occurs.

I was going post up another Weekend Thoughts, but I was so busy hammering out the Moon Laser: Perfect Achievement (30 points! yay!) in Blue Dragon that I couldn't be bothered. I swear it took me like 900 tries to get the achievement. Still, it was nothing compared to dodging lightening bolts in FFX. Worst. Mini-game. Ever. Anyway, I was reading some stuff this morning and found that Sony finally got on the ball.
So far Microsoft has been kicking Sony in the shorts with multiplats. Both GTA IV and Fallout 3 have exclusive DLC. Rock Band 2 is a time exclusive for the 360. Sony lost FF as an exclusive title. It just seems to never end.
I was listening to a podcast and as they were talking about Nintendo and its strategies I found myself wanting to fast forward. Then it hit me. Nintendo is completely irrelevant to me.
Well,
My sorry butt finally got around to finishing Rainbowsix Vegas, YES the first one.
and I must say that I absolutely loved it. I have little ones around the house so I had to take my time getting through the game. I had to play in the evenings when they weren't around. That's probably what drug it out so long. That and I was never home long enough to play for hours on end like I like to do.
DuncanR2N's post about Duke Nuke 'em 3D got me to thinking and poking around on the net. I started thinking about the 3D rendering of human beings and how up until now it has been somewhat cartoonish.
Don't get me wrong the 3D engines in many games have been really, really good. I've seen reflections in shimmering water, and I've seen textures that are photo real. However, the humans in most games that I've seen look so very fake. There is just something about them that is not quite right. Well, it turns out that there is a definition for this phenomenon. It is called the 'uncanny valley'. Which means the closer that a human character approaches realistic in a virtual rendering, the more fake that character looks. At least it used to be that way.
I've been reading everywhere about this rumor that Gearbox is making the next Halo game for MS. Not only that, but its supposedly for the NEXT Xbox.

"Shake it, baby!" That's right boys and girls, get out your wad of dollar bills, Duke Nukem 3D, one of the best-selling games on the good ol' DOS platform is coming to XBL. Simply put, you must play this game. This game helped set the bar for what the FPS experience can do. Following on the heels of the DOOM series, this game created and interactive world that actually felt (at the time) like it was 'real'. Toilets flushed, light switches turned on and off, light fixtures shattered when shot, and fire hydrants would flow if you took a missle to them.
Now that Duncan has completed Metal Gear Solid 4, I can fix my gaze on the last member of GV who has yet to play through one of the best games of 2008. Now is the time, before the fall onslaught of titles. I won't mention any names, just that if he chooses to not play/finish MGS4 it'll be an epic....
